GFWC Florida Fall Board of Directors Meeting – Orlando, FL.
Another GFWC Florida Fall Board of Directors Meeting is in the books! The Beach Blanket Bingo weekend offered many valuable workshops and we got some good ideas for our club. We even got to listen to our own Jolie Frankfurth, GFWC Director of Junior Clubs, lead a workshop on Leadership and another on Getting the Attention of the largest living generations. Michele Small, GFWC Fundraising Chair, spoke at a workshop and encouraged members on fundraising successes. It is always a great opportunity to be around so many women dedicated to grassroots volunteer efforts in their communities.
September General Meeting – We had a big crowd at our September meeting — 41 in total, including 3 visitors! Jackie Dryden, Director of Advancement from Alpha House of Tampa shared their story with us, and we sent her back with lots of household goods from our drive, as well as a bag of goodies for the women currently residing there. For our hands-on projects, we stuffed the bags for the ladies at Alpha House and we traced and cut out hands for children to decorate and send to the state capital during Children’s Advocacy Week for Guardian Ad litem. And last, but not least, Robin F. received her member pin. Thanks to all our members who made the time to attend today!
Volunteering at Trinity Cafe – Our friends at Trinity Cafe did not let Irma keep them from serving the people in the community who are “food deprived”. We were happy to be back with them to join in the service!
Member Social and visit to Art of the Brick Tampa – Girls really do know how to have fun! Some members coordinated a wonderful lunch at Yeoman’s Cask & Lion and then took in all the amazing sculptures at Art of the Brick Tampa.
