GFWC Woman’s Club of New Tampa members did not take a rest this summer! We continued to support community events and make our presence known as members who are “Living the Volunteer Spirit“.

This Free event distributed backpacks with school materials, Horse rides, Bouncy Houses, BBQ, Haircuts and a Prayer Tent. Bridging Freedom is provided Human Trafficking Awareness materials at this event because it is so important to us to partner with community events to keep our families safe!
HGE Backpacks and School Supplies – August 5
Members delivered 25 backpacks and enough miscellaneous school supplies to put smiles on many, many children’s faces at Hunter’s Green Elementary School – Tampa, FL. Thank you to our club members for their generous donations. And thank you Vicki and Janie for coordinating this effort!
Cooking Class at Joshua House – July 27
Today, 11 teen girls of The Joshua House were treated to a cooking class by some of our members! They were taught to make and bake personal pepperoni and veggie pizzas and chocolate chip cookies which they enjoyed for lunch !
Summer Luncheon
Thank you to Legacy at Highwoods Preserve for preparing a wonderful summer salad lunch for our group, and then donating the dollars back to our club! Your facility is beautiful and we are looking forward to working with you and your residents. Thank you also to our hard working members and to our many guests that joined us today. We collected an amazing amount of school supplies to help the kids at Hunters Green Elementary that need them.
Children’s Home Society “Olympics” – July 17
GFWC Woman’s Club of New Tampa has been a valued CHS volunteer partner for quite a while now. We were so excited to have joined them for a hands-on activity with the kids! We hosted the fantastic Olympic-themed event and for coordinated delicious Hungry Harry’s Family BBQ and Kona Ice of Temple Terrace! What a fun day!
Support of victims at the Pulse in Orlando
In support of the victims of the Pulse tragedy, FITniche Wiregrass Mall hosted a 5K Fun Run on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 6:30pm. The proceeds going to Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund. The first 200 participants received a free t-shirt. Thank you members who attended and participated.
GFWC International Convention in Baltimore!
Members attended the GFWC International Convention with Keynote Speaker, Suzi Toronto and many other wonderful speakers, entertainment, and tours. The highlight for our club and GFWC Florida was that club member,
Jolie Frankfurth, being installed as GFWC Director of Junior Clubs! Only one other member of Florida has been elected to that position on the GFWC Executive Committee. Awesome commitment of volunteer service. Thank you to Michele Small for being the club representative and documenting the weekend.
