After reading about the various programs that use donated wedding dresses to create burial gowns, bonnets and wraps for infants who are stillborn, or preemies that pass after birth, members of the GFWC Woman’s Club of New Tampa decided to do their part in helping grieving parents and created 14 micro-preemie “angel wraps” with bonnets and three burial gowns to be delivered to the Bereavement Team at Florida Hospital Tampa later this month. A white satin wedding dress was donated by a club member and the over 10 yards of fabric, embellishments and lace was used to create these one-of-a-kind items for parents of children who will not reach their first birthday. Each wrap and gown are unique; the Bereavement Team plans on distributing them to families for final pictures and as a remembrance of the child lost too early.
Thank you to our member who donated the wedding dress and the many hands that had part in the making of these garments.
