We have been very. very busy making good things happen in our community and beyond!
The GFWC Woman’s Club of New Tampa and the GFWC New Tampa Junior Woman’s Club hosted a joint project where we donated 69 bras to “FREE THE GIRLS.” These new/slightly worn bras were sent to San Salvador, El Salvador to be donated to women who were once enslaved through sex trafficking. They will sell the bras in a second-hand clothing market, which provides a safe and powerful economic opportunity for these women to earn a living wage and to finally feel safe.
Trinity Cafe where we help to feed those less fortunate…
Bereavement Hearts project – When we were in search of a recipient for the Preemie Hearts, Lisa U. of Child Life Development asked us if we would sew Bereavement Hearts. These hearts will be given to a parent or sibling of a loved one lost. The front pocket is used to save something special related to the child/sibling (photo, necklace, lock of hair , etc). Thank You to our cutters, sewers, and stuffers (Joy, Jan, Barb, Betty, Fern, Patty, Mendy, Delores, Pat, Mynette, Vicki D. ) . A BIG Thanks to our club for supporting this request! On May 10th, we made the heart delivery to SJCH! We received the following: I just wanted to thank you and the ladies from GFWC of New Tampa for the sweet bereavement pillows. Our team really appreciates all the work and time dedicated to this project. Our hope is that these special heart pillows will bring some level of comfort to those families experiencing the loss of a child.
