The GFWC Woman’s Club of New Tampa, Inc. is a non-denominational and non-partisan 501(c)(3) Volunteer Organization. Our motto is “Hands That Help - Hearts That Lead.” We host general meetings that are open to the public at 1 PM on the third Wednesday of each month, with a summer break during June and July. Our meeting location is at the Arbor Greene Community Center, 1800 Arbor Greene Drive, Tampa, Florida. About Us
The GFWC Woman’s Club of New Tampa, Inc., recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2011, is a proud member of both GFWC Florida and GFWC International. GFWC is one of the oldest women’s volunteer organizations in the world, with over 63,000 members celebrating over 135 years internationally and over 130 years in the state of Florida of volunteer service. We are honored to have Jolie Frankfurth, the first Vice President of GFWC International, as one of our founding members who continues to be actively involved in our club’s activities.
Our club is aligned with the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) mission to enhance lives through volunteer service, advocating and volunteering in their communities to support the arts, preserve natural resources, advance education, promote healthy lifestyles, and encourage civic involvement, all under the motto, "Unity in Diversity."
GFWC Woman’s Club of New Tampa, Inc. members support causes locally and globally to create change by addressing community and international needs, from health and education to preventing violence and promoting world understanding. We believe we are better together; therefore, we volunteer with sister clubs and non-profit organizations in our Tampa Community. Our club members are genuinely passionate about volunteering and are always open to new ideas on how to enhance our community service efforts. We gain valuable insights through our informative guest speakers at our monthly General Meetings and GFWC and GFWC Florida Programming, fellow members, and community outreach initiatives. Our volunteer activities align with GFWC Community Service Projects and Signature Projects, with many local organizations relying on our support annually to volunteer at their nonprofit programming.
Over the past three years, our club has received numerous honors from GFWC Florida for our volunteer service at our annual GFWC Florida Conventions. At our most recent 2025 Convention, we were awarded the 2024 Lois B. Perkins Most Outstanding Florida Woman’s Club Award, and member Su Mellor was recognized with the GFWC Florida Mary Ann Taylor Award for her contributions to Friends of Joshua House. We also celebrated a range of individual Community Service Project Awards, including seven first places, four second places, two third places, and the GFWC Florida President’s Choice Award for our Scrapbook at the Florida Fall Board. In 2024, we were recognized as the 2023 Club of the Year - Category 2, and in 2023, Joyce Mathisen received the GFWC Florida Volunteer of the Year Award for 2022.
