GFWC Woman’s Club of New Tampa invited the Honorable Mayor Jane Castor to be our first guest speaker of the 2023-2024 year. The mayor spoke in-depth on issues important to GFWC and our group as City of Tampa residents. She shared that the Tampa Hillsborough Homeless Initiative received $4.6 million in federal funding to combat youth homelessness in Hillsborough County. She also spoke about environmental issues, including Tampa’s water treatment plant, water conservation, and recycling efforts. Mayor Castor emphasized the importance of supporting the Tampa Police Department, repairing our roads, and improving our bus system. Lastly, she graciously opened the meeting to questions from the floor.
