The members of GFWC Woman’s Club of New Tampa continue to make every day count toward “Living the Volunteer Spirit!”
Children are a strong focus for our club. We delivered 25 backpacks and enough miscellaneous school supplies to put smiles on many, many children’s faces at Hunter’s Green Elementary school and Joshua House. The total donation exceeded $1,000 in school supplies. We continue our hands-on involvement in the schools with two tutoring programs and other hands on activities.
Fun times! We are so happy to be involved with Tennis for Fun – a volunteer organization that teaches basic tennis skills to special needs athletes. Our club is excited to partner with them, volunteer at their clinics and outfit the players and volunteers with their T-shirts for this year!
Supporting the arts – On September 30th, we volunteered at the New Belgium Beer and Film Festival to support Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful and the Morean Center for Clay.
The weather was fabulous on October 22nd, so it was a great fall morning to help out with the Hunters Green Elementary school Fall Festival. We were painting faces, running games and judging the costume contests!
America’s First Harvest was the location where members worked alongside other community volunteers to sort and box over 9,000 pounds of food. We will look forward to another day there next spring.
Oh, what a night! Fourteen of our members volunteered at Wine, Women and Shoes, an event sponsored by the Children’s Cancer Center. It was amazing to see so many beautiful, giving women there.
November 5th was a beautiful morning to join the folks from The Legacy at Highwoods Preserve for A Walk to end Alzheimer’s. We have continued to support The Legacy with the efforts to make the senior community a happy place for those in residence.
